to Resilience" The two forms on
the left refer to Somalian women I have met who were subject to
female genital cutting. (10" x
10" and 10" x 6"). The three figures on the right
try to capture the women's enormous resilience and charm ( 14" x
8" and 12" x 7"). All raku fired.
"Women Around the World" from
a collection of 35 portraits of women, reflecting the 35,000 women
at the 4th United Nations World Conference on Women held in Beijing,
China in 1995. Heads vary from 3 to 5 inches in height.
